About the Conference
The HPS Center for Financial Excellence Asset Management Conference, in partnership with AltFinance, is a two-day event that connects students, industry professionals, and alumni to explore careers in asset management. The conference aligns with Howard University’s commitment to enhancing its finance education by offering technical training and career insights to students.
The event kicks off with a Leadership Panel featuring Dr. Curtis Kidd Telemaque, Director of the HPS Center for Financial Excellence; Marcus Shaw, President & CEO of AltFinance; Marshall Williams, Analyst at The Carlyle Group; and Dr. TashniAnn Dubroy, former COO of Howard University. This discussion will highlight the role of HBCU alumni and finance professionals in shaping the future of asset management.
Day two begins with a series of sessions at the Howard University School of Business focusing on asset management fundamentals and career development, followed by a Fireside Chat with Ray McGuire, President of Lazard, providing insights into the evolving finance landscape. The afternoon will feature hands-on technical workshops and case study challenges covering areas such as private credit underwriting, private equity, asset valuation, and financial modeling for leveraged buyouts.
These sessions are designed to equip students with both foundational and advanced industry skills. Through expert insights, technical sessions, and networking opportunities, the event will provide students with critical industry skills and valuable connections, reinforcing Howard’s dedication to developing the next generation of finance leaders.
