CALL FOR ARTISTS: CAMPUS-WIDE MURAL COMPETITION
Howard University School of Business

The Howard University School of Business invites visionary student artists to submit original concept designs for a signature mural to be featured in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art technology space. This space is being designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation among students, and the selected mural will serve as a lasting visual representation of the School’s legacy, impact, and forward-thinking spirit.

This competition offers students a unique opportunity to contribute to the physical and cultural landscape of the School of Business while showcasing their artistic voice and perspective on the evolution of Black business and leadership.

This competition is open to all currently enrolled Howard University students, including both undergraduate and graduate students, across all disciplines.

  • Be visually compelling and appropriate for a modern, technology-driven academic environment
  • Inspire and engage a diverse student audience
  • Consider scale and adaptability for installation within a collaborative campus space

The mural wall is approximately 14 feet (width) by 6 feet (height). Please note that final dimensions may be adjusted based on space considerations and installation needs.

Selection Process & Recognition
All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of faculty, staff, and university stakeholders. The winning design will be selected for installation in the School of Business and will become a permanent feature of the space.

The selected artist will receive a $5,000 stipend in recognition of their work and will have the opportunity to collaborate with Howard University alumni and mural artist Jay Durrah to further develop and refine the final concept for execution.

How to Submit
Students will upload their concept design and written statement through the designated submission portal. Additional details regarding file formats, deadlines, and installation specifications will be provided on the submission page.
